Position Description

Title: Gymnastics Coach

Department: Gymnastics Supervisor: Gymnastics Coordinator

Status: Part-Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Position Summary: Responsible for coaching student athletes in competitive cheerleading techniques to prepare them for events and competitions. Maintains a variable schedule and works the required hours to meet the duties and responsibilities of this position which may include evening and weekend work.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Works with cheerleaders and gymnasts during practices, events, and competitions
  • Monitors each cheerleader and gymnast, recommending safe techniques, and supervising warm-ups
  • Coaches and instructs cheerleaders and gymnasts, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport
  • Must be eligible for USASF Membership and Certification
  • Acts as a team representative and promotes cheer and gymnastics by communicating with parents, visitors, etc.
  • Helps maintain equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Helps to develop and sustain positive relationships with participants and coaches, and provides motivational support and guidance.
  • Encourages and promotes member and parent involvement.
  • Conveys information about Cheer and Gymnastics programs and schedules to the public.
  • Follows all CCPSA emergency and safety procedures.
  • Upholds all CCPSA policies, procedures, standards and code of conduct.
  • Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance
  • Fulfills any functions designated by the CCPSA for the betterment of the program and the ability of the CCPSA to meet its mission.
  • Performs all other duties as related

  • Must pass full background check and USASF greenlight screening

  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, and students

Working Environment: Duties are primarily performed at Gymnastics Center during routine practice times on the afternoons, nights and weekends. May be required to attend meetings, workshops or events during normal business hours. This position works closely with others as well as independently.

Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 75 pounds; to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead.
