Minimum Pay: $46,599.88

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing the operations of the Two Rivers Gun Range

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Reviews and serves as primary liaison for new range facility developments, existing range modifications, changes in range uses, and range closures.

  • Reviews all signs used at the shooting complex, including standardized and specialized signs to ensure compliance with regulations and consistency of range information and operations.

  • Maintains the master database of all range facilities.

  • Manages the maintenance of files and records, including expenditures and dues.

  • Develops range inspection procedures, training, and forms; oversees range inspections.

  • Develops marketing and social media strategies to inform the public of gun range facilities and programs.

  • Provides input on procedures, guidelines, and revisions to range policies and regulations.

  • Ensures compliance with range regulations and standard operating procedures.

  • Monitors all range activities on shooting lanes during live fire sessions.

  • Assists customers with appropriate lanes and target information.

  • Builds and replaces target frames.

  • Performs daily inspections; repairs and maintains range maintenance equipment.

  • Instructs patrons on the safe use of firearms.

  • Schedules training days and range events as directed.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Performs other work as required or when directed by administration.

  • In the event of an emergency, all Camden County employees are considered essential and may be required to perform alternate duties.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Deputy County Administrator assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include county and department policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

  • The work consists of gun range management duties. The variety of county programs, operations, and services contributes to the complexity of the position.

  • The purpose of this position is to manage the operations and maintenance of the gun range. Success in this position contributes to safe and effective provision of services to the public.

  • Contacts are typically with co-workers, vendors, and members of the general public.

  • Contacts are typically to exchange information, resolve problems, motivate or influence persons, and to provide services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color.

  • The work is typically performed in an office and at a gun range. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

This position has direct supervision over Administrative Assistant and other part-time personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.

  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain NRA General Instructor, NRA Pistol Instructor, and Chief Range Safety Officer certifications.
